6 “good” reasons God still cares about you

I don’t know where you are on the road of life right now. Perhaps you have been slowed down by a flat tire, figuratively speaking, and have been left stranded on the side of life’s road watching others go by merrily. Or perhaps, even worse, you have suffered a major collision on the road, and have had to endure unspeakable pain and suffering as a result. You aren’t simply stranded on the side of the road, you’ve been wrecked and in need of some serious repairs. Whatever season of life that you’re in, it’s not looking promising for you. Maybe you’re beginning to wonder “where is God?” “Why is He allowing this to happen to me?” “Why is He not answering my prayers?” “Doesn’t He care about me?” Friends these are not questions I found lying around in some Theological textbook, they’re questions that I find myself asking regularly when I’m feeling lonely, discouraged, and beat up spiritually. And to my surprise they’re questions that many of God’s people asked on life’s journey to. Listen to Asaph in Psalm 77:7-9 and tell me if you can relate to his questions?

“Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?”

But just as Asaph was about to turn over and crawl back into bed, something happened to him. It wasn’t profound, but it was enough to change his perspective on his current “unfavorable” circumstances. He remembered. He remembered God’s faithfulness in the past and that He is the one who works wonders. I would like to help you remember who God is and what He has done in your life. He is not finished with you; in fact, He is up to something good! So here are six reasons from the Bible declaring why God has not stopped caring about you:

1. God is good

  • For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you- Psalm 86:5
  • For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations- Psalm 100:5
  • You are good and do good; teach me your statutes- Psalm 119:68
The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made- Psalm 145:9

2. God works all things together for His good and your good

  • for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure- Philippians 2:13
  • And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose- Romans 8:28

3. God’s goodness is available to you

  • Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind- Psalm 31:19
  • For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly- Psalm 84:11
  • Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change- James 1:17

4. God’s presence is your good

  • But as for me, God’s presence is my good. I have made the Lord God my refuge, so I can tell about all You do- Psalm 73:28

5. God’s goodness was displayed to you in His Son

  • But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared- Titus 3:4

6. The Word of God is good

  • and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come- Hebrews 6:5
  • It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look- 1 Peter 1:12
